Mark leads the firm’s investment strategy, manager research, and portfolio construction efforts. He also spearheads the firm’s investment policy and risk management initiatives. He previously consulted to Vernal Point both at the inception of its current investment program, and during the two years leading up to becoming CIO.
Mark has over 25 years of experience in executive investment roles. Previously, he served as Partner and Managing Director of Investment Strategies at Cresset Asset Management from April 2019 to January 2022, where he built and managed their third-party investment manager program. Cresset grew from $3bn when he joined to over $24bn at his departure.
Prior to Cresset, Mark co-led the 18-person investment team at Tiedemann Advisors (now AlTi Global, Inc) and was responsible for all aspects of the organization's $18bn investment program. Previously, Mark held the position of Chief Investment Officer at The Presidio Group LLC, where he worked for 15 years. When Presidio merged with Tiedemann in 2016, Mark was managing an investment team of five across all asset classes that oversaw $6.5bn in client assets. Before joining Presidio, Mark was an Investment Consultant at Willis Towers Watson providing fiduciary oversight of various pension plans, endowments and foundations.
In 2019, Mark co-authored the CFA level III reading titled “Asset Allocation to Alternative Investments”. He completed an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley - Walter A. Haas School of Business in 2002. Additionally, Mark received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics, in 1992 from Pomona College. Mark earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2001.
